Solar Plexus Chakra Why It Matters. - Alexandra Cook
The Solar Plexus, or Manipura, is the third chakra located behind the navel in the upper abdomen. In the physical body, it is the regulator of the lumbar spine, digestive organs, eyesight and movement. The third chakra is the hub of our pranic force, or internal fire, fostering good health, courage, enthusiasm, vitality, and self-esteem. As the center of willpower, a balanced Manipura allows us to sense our power within and transform it into action. When the Solar Plexus chakra is in balance, a person exudes confidence, feels self-motivated, and has a clear sense of purpose. When out of balance, someone may suffer from low self-esteem, have trouble making decisions, or control issues. In order to foster this energy, it is important to cultivate self-love and self-esteem. Judgement and criticism of the self, depletes the energy of the third chakra, causing us to doubt our own abilities. Acknowledgement of our own worth is the first step in bringing this chakra into alignment.
The color associated with the Solar Plexus is yellow and the element is fire. It is important to cultivate this fire without allowing it to be overactive. An overactive third chakra can result in anger issues, desire for power or control, perfectionism, or digestive problems. By using the earth and water energies harnessed in the first two chakras we can continue to bring balance into the mind as we move up the center of the body. We can nurture this internal flame through positive affirmations, breathing deeply into the abdomen, and yoga asanas that light up the core.
Mantras for Sacral Chakra:
I love and accept myself.
I am worthy of love, kindness, and respect.
I honor my power.
